Digital Freedom - Privacy Policy

Acceptance of Privacy Policy

Your use of the Digital Freedom website, account portal, marketplace, member areas, and related services operated within the Sovran Private Society framework (collectively, the “Service”) is governed by this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, the Membership Agreement, the Articles of Association, and any other applicable notices or agreements posted by the Society (collectively, the “Society Agreements”).

In the event of any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and the Society Agreements, the Society Agreements shall govern.

Digital Freedom and the Sovran Private Society reserve the right to modify, add, or remove terms from this Privacy Policy at their discretion, with updates becoming effective upon posting unless otherwise stated.

Commitment to Privacy

Digital Freedom recognizes privacy as a core principle of private participation and is committed to protecting the personal information of Members and users who interact with the Service.

The Service is intended to operate within a private contractual framework. Personal information is collected, used, retained, and protected in a manner consistent with the Society Agreements, the operation of the Service, and the need to preserve privacy, integrity, and security within the network.

Information Collected

Digital Freedom may collect personal information that Members or users provide voluntarily when they:

  • create an account,
  • complete forms,
  • contact support,
  • accept agreements,
  • access member services,
  • or otherwise interact with the Service.

This information may include, where applicable:

  • name,
  • email address,
  • username,
  • account details,
  • support communications,
  • and other information voluntarily submitted through the Service.

During agreement acknowledgment, registration, or secure access events, the Service may also record limited technical and verification-related metadata, including IP address, timestamps, browser information, and related session data.

The Service may also collect non-personal or operational information automatically, including browser type, device type, pages visited, referring pages, usage patterns, and related diagnostics used to maintain and improve the Service.

Use of Information

Digital Freedom may use collected information to:

  • provide access to the Service,
  • maintain account functionality,
  • verify participation and agreement acknowledgment,
  • communicate with Members about updates, notices, and support matters,
  • protect the integrity and security of the Service,
  • investigate misuse, fraud, or unauthorized access,
  • improve usability, performance, and system reliability,
  • and administer the Service in a manner consistent with the Society Agreements.

Non-personal, summary, or aggregate information may be used internally for operational review, planning, diagnostics, and service improvement.

Digital Freedom does not sell, lease, or commercially disclose personal information to third parties. Personal information may be disclosed only when reasonably necessary to:

  • operate or secure the Service,
  • enforce the Society Agreements,
  • protect the rights, safety, or integrity of the Society, the Service, or participating Members,
  • respond to lawful process, adjudication, or binding requirements recognized within the governing framework,
  • or where the Member has otherwise consented.

Protection of Information

Digital Freedom employs commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and operational safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of personal information.

These safeguards may include:

  • encryption,
  • secure storage,
  • restricted access controls,
  • account authentication measures,
  • internal monitoring,
  • and other proprietary or operational security protocols used to protect the Service.

Where applicable, the Service may also use private infrastructure and security controls associated with AEON and related Digital Freedom systems.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely risk-free. While reasonable safeguards are used, Digital Freedom does not guarantee absolute security and does not assume liability for losses arising solely from the inherent risks of Internet transmission, external compromise, or causes outside its reasonable control.

Confidentiality and Limited Disclosure

Digital Freedom adheres to confidentiality principles established within the Society Agreements and the private framework of the Sovran Private Society.

Personal information is not disclosed except as reasonably necessary for service operation, agreement enforcement, security, support, or recognized adjudicative or legal process within the governing framework.

Where reasonably practicable, any disclosure outside normal service operation will be limited in scope to what is necessary for the stated purpose.

Access and Updates to Information

Members may request access to, correction of, or updates to their personal information by contacting support through the official Digital Freedom support channels.

Digital Freedom may require reasonable verification before acting on such requests.

Third-Party Websites

The Service may contain links or pointers to third-party websites, resources, or services.

Digital Freedom does not control such third-party websites and is not responsible for their privacy practices, terms, or content. Members and users should review the privacy policies and terms of any third-party site they visit.

Digital Freedom operates primarily through AEON, the private Layer-1 blockchain and encryption framework supporting internal recordkeeping, private activity, rewards crediting, and in-network accountability.

Where approved external interfaces, third-party services, or permissioned interoperability paths are enabled under posted rules or internal policy, related records or activity may also be subject to the operational rules of those systems. Such systems may not be operated or controlled by Digital Freedom or the Sovran Private Society.

Digital Freedom’s internal systems are designed around approved account access methods and operational controls. Members remain responsible for safeguarding their credentials, devices, and authorized access methods used with the Service.

Data Retention

Digital Freedom retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide and operate the Service,
  • maintain security and internal records,
  • administer participation and support,
  • satisfy operational requirements under the Society Agreements,
  • or comply with applicable retention requirements recognized within the governing framework.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, it may be deleted, anonymized, archived, or otherwise handled in accordance with the Society’s operational policies.

Acceptance of Terms

By continuing to use the Service, you affirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and that your use of the Service is subject to it and to the Society Agreements.
